Still Here
We
met on the road, while filling in with the band, you
had a wild side that I didn’t understand
During
that tour we were always together, couldn’t
stay away from you, we needed each other
When
the tour was over, you left without a word, you
were just having some fun, is what I heard
(chorus)
And
I’m still here not waiting for you, still here not feeling blue
I’m
still here not losing hope, still here not at the end of my rope
I’m
still here not crying any tears, still here not needing you near
Soon
I went off with another band to sing, hoping
not to run into you, in this musical ring
I
found my love again, being back on the road, making
sure a smile is all that showed
By
the time I got home, I didn’t miss you anymore, I
know now, I never needed you to soar
(chorus)
And
I’m still here not waiting for you, still here not feeling blue
I’m
still here not losing hope, still here not at the end of my rope
I’m
still here not crying any tears, still here not needing you near

Elevator ride
What a wild
ride, the past few years have been, often wonder if it’s real.
It seems
like only yesterday, I thought being single was a sweet deal.
I played
when I wanted, stayed alone when I needed and never had to feel.
Clubs and
parties, a date here and there, my freedom had a thrilling appeal.
(chorus)
I pressed
the up button and heard someone say, “Hold the door, please”
She smiled
at me and pressed seven, all I could was stare and hope she doesn’t see
As the doors
closed, there she was, workout clothes, ponytail and no make up
The elevator
ride to the seventh floor made me feel like a boy, a little love struck
That day, three
years ago, changed my life girl, tomorrow we say I do
Clubs and parties and quiet
nights at home, I now get spend with you
That elevator ride was more than a lift up, that day you came to my
rescue
I was on my own, nothing to tie me down and now I’m part of something
new
(chorus)
I pressed
the up button and heard someone say, “Hold the door, please”
She smiled at
me and pressed seven, all I could was stare and hope she doesn’t see
As the doors
closed, there she was, workout clothes, ponytail and no make up
The elevator
ride to the seventh floor made me feel like a boy, a little love struck
(ending short chorus)
As the doors
slowly closed, I heard the preacher say, “You may kiss the bride”
This
elevator ride to the seventh floor is our first one as husband and wife

Same Club, Same Time
The work day
is done, the weekend is here and he’s ready to play
Got his
cowboy boots on, his truck is clean and he’s on his way
He’s
reminded of her by a song playing on the radio
Tonight’s
the night he’s going to talk to her, he’s ready to go
(chorus)
It’s Friday
night and they are here again, same club, same time
They watch
each other from across the room
He’s going
to talk to her, after he downs his vodka and lime
He moves
through the crowd and sees her waiting there, alone
She left
work early, hair date with her girls, ready for the fun to begin
Jeans fit
just right, hair and nails shine and her boots ready for dancin’
She hoped he
would show, she even told her friends to leave her
Her cowboy
comes through the door and lookin’ fine, as ever
(chorus)
It’s Friday
night and they are here again, same club, same time
They watch
each other from across the room
She sees him
throw back his drink and head down that line
She tosses
back her hair as he walks up and sits on the stool
(repeat
chorus)
It’s Friday
night and they are here again, same club, same time
They watch
each other from across the room
They talked
for a while, went to a small diner and talked all night
It’s Friday
night and they walk in together, not alone

My Wretched Soul
Why does
life have to be so hard? Why do I
have too care so much?
It’s falling
down like a house of cards. Always feels
like I’m out of touch.
Am I really
living a sad country song? Seems each
day brings in new pain.
Why has
everything been going wrong? I need the
sun and a break from the rain.
(chorus)
My job is
gone and my heart has been broke, I’ve become
the punchline for all the jokes
Had to put
my dog down because she got too old, I look like
hell is what I’ve been told
Maybe a long,
lonely thinking hard stroll, Will do some
good for my wretched soul
My real
close friends are all now gone. They look
down on me with angel wings.
Tomorrow
comes and life goes on. I have high
hopes for what life brings.
I don’t like
being this far down. So I stand
up tall and have some faith.
I don’t want
to stay here on the ground. So I’m
praying for a north bound train.
(chorus)
My job is
gone and my heart has been broke, I’ve become
the punchline for all the jokes
Had to put
my dog down because she got too old, I’m starting
to look like hell is what I’ve been told
Maybe a
long, lonely thinking hard stroll, Will do some
good for my wretched soul
